Recently, I started the Single Parent Advisory Network (“SPAN”), an initiative to help single parents get access to personal finance resources and coaching. In the US, nearly 3 in 10 single mothers are living in poverty (3 times higher than married parents). This topic is important to me because I grew up in a single parent household. Though I was fortunate to never have to worry about financial security, for many children and their single parents this is a day-to-day struggle.
As an organization our goals are as follows:
To help single parents navigate the financial challenges they may be facing
To provide single parents with access to various personal finance experts and resources in order to help better inform their decision making process
To offer a place where single parents can have any personal finance questions they have answered on an anonymous basis
We partner with a wide variety of personal finance professionals in order to provide the following programming to help single parents:
One-on-one sessions with financial advisors and coaches to discuss general personal
Q&A forum where single parents can ask financial questions and have them answered by personal finance experts
Annual virtual round table where we discuss personal finance topics and do Q&A with a panel of certified financial advisors
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our organization and what we can offer, please shoot us an email at singleparentadvisorynetwork@gmail.com! Same goes for anyone who might be interested in joining our team as a partner!
